The sound of needles clattering in time is one of Tom's earliest childhood memories: Fascinated by the craft from an early age, the designer bought his first own knitting machine at the age of 17. He completed his design studies at the HTW Berlin, and today Tom designs inspiring collections for comma Knit.
What fascinates Tom so much about knitwear? The fact that it is always reinventing itself. An ancient craft, shaped by tradition, gives free rein to the creativity of our designers: with a thread in their hands, individual works of art are created through the imagination of the knitter. From the technique to the choice of pattern, each final design is full of passion.
This season we wear knitwear from head to toe: high-quality materials such as cashmere or alpaca wool form the basis of the designs. Flowing silhouettes and matching accessories complete your look. Tom's motto: you are never over- or underdressed in knitwear.
Andrew discovered his love of yarn as a child: while he knitted together with his grandmother back then, the Brit now designs unique creations. The artist learned at the renowned Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design in London. The versatility of yarns and different techniques inspire him every day.
Our design team works closely together to develop a new collection. From the creative camp, through research to the final design, Andrew knits the first samples by hand. Behind our styles is a careful selection of yarns and precise work that makes each piece a work of art. It can take over three months from the first draft to the completion of the final samples.
Designer Andrew prefers to combine knitwear with basics: the statement cardigan, for example, with black trousers and a jersey shirt. The interplay of different textures adds dynamism to your outfit. Whether fine or coarse knit, jacquard or ribbed, the variety of our collection complements your wardrobe with high-quality materials and intense colours.
